I will retire from the Belgian Army later this year after 30 years of service. As soon as I'm retired I'm going to move from Belgium to the Philippines to be with my future wife there. I'm still too young (49) to sit on my thumbs doing nothing all day long and I don't want another regular job so I'm gonna do something that I like to do. Kind'a make a career out of my hobbies. :-)
I will finaly have the time to write that series of scratchbuilding "how to" books that I have been working on whenever I had the time for a long time already, but that's not the major thing. The major thing is that I'm going to start up a miniature painting service / scratchbuilding service called Mabuhay Miniature Painting Service. My goals are simple; I want to offer a very affordable high volume quality service for wargamers and collectors with the focus on quality and speed. No months of waiting for your figures to be painted or your models to be built, I want to have them back to you within the shortest possible time.
I could not do this in a better place than the Philippines. Labor is very cheap there so I will be able to work for you at the lowest possible rates (lower than any other Asian painting service). There's an art academy not 5 minutes from where I will live, I will recuit my painters and scratchbuilders from there. Education costs a fortune in the Philippines so there will be no shortage of creative young students, eager to make some money to help pay their tuition bills. I will pay them very well so that I can demand high quality work from them.
For Fonzie's Scratchbuilding Service, which will become part of the new painting service, these changes means that I will be able to accept more commissions and that I no longer have to turn people down because of lack of time.
I have been preparing for the startup for some time now and I'm ready for it. I built a website that will go live as soon as Mabuhay Miniature Painting Service launches later this year. It's not open to the public yet, there are still some blank pages on it and there will still be some changes before I launch it but I want to give you guys a sneak preview already. Remember it's not open to the public yet so please keep this link to yourself and don't start sending in orders yet !! LOL

Let me know what you think of it and if there are any improvements, suggestions and idea's that you can think of I would of course like to hear those too. :-) If you want to stay updated on Mabuhay Miniature Painting Service please subscribe to the newsletter on this site or on the new website.
Cheers,
Fonzie
